Chan Chi Pan (Ben) is a practising barrister whose practice covers civil, criminal and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on financial services regulation, financial crime, corruption and commercial disputes. Before joining the Bar, he spent more than 25 years in senior legal, compliance, regulatory, business development and management roles at regulatory authorities and international financial institutions, including the Securities and Futures Commission, HSBC and CCB International. He undertook his pupillage under Cheng Huan SC and Edward Tang. Ben’s multidisciplinary background in law, accounting, finance and information technology enables him to combine legal analysis with practical commercial insight. His experience within regulatory bodies and across the front, middle and back offices of financial institutions gives him an understanding of the legal, commercial, risk-management and operational considerations affecting his clients. Ben advises and represents clients in litigation, regulatory investigations and commercial matters. His practice encompasses securities and futures law and regulation, banking law and regulation, the Listing Rules, corporate governance, bribery and corruption, virtual assets, privacy, bankruptcy and winding-up. He also handles matters involving money laundering, false accounting, white-collar fraud, professional misconduct and competition law, as well as contractual disputes, debt recovery, shareholder disputes and cross-border transactions. His practice serves clients across the banking, asset management, securities and futures, virtual asset, insurance, accounting and company secretarial sectors, including in connection with listings. He also acts for listed companies, company directors, professional accountants, investors and other individuals and businesses.
